Prince William Plans to Join COP30 Climate Summit in South America
The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in Brazil during November, as announced by the royal household.
Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a gathering leading up to the environmental conference, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.
The royal pair were in attendance at the scientific institution event, marking an rare public appearance together at a environmental conference preliminary meeting arranged together with the UK government.
Climate Leadership Commitment
King Charles has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil preceding the climate conference.
Royal sources have characterized the Prince's participation at the next COP as taking on an crucial position in "climate diplomacy".
Recent Engagements
The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the official car, were introduced to guests including environmentalists, scientists, environmental activists, foreign representatives and politicians.
This engagement involved presentations in concert with French leader Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.
Earthshot Awards Connection
The climate conference will dovetail with the William's personal Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the day before he participates in the COP summit on November 6th.
